FAQ's

There are many questions that Parent's, Professionals & potential Clients have. Browse some of our Frequently Asked Questions.

How much notice do I need to give to rearrange my appointment?

We ask for a minimum of 3 days notice.

Do I get an opportunity to make amendments to my reports?

Yes - We ask that you check over for any factual errors as we want the reports to be as accurate as possible.

My child's school has demanded to speak with you following a copy of our report. Do you have to speak with them?

No - Not unless you give us permission

Can I have an emergency appointment?

Any clients currently under our care can access an emergency appointment.

Can I use you as my Tribunal Witness?

Yes - The Tribunal can be booked as a half or full day, and needs to be paid one month in advance.

I am a lone parent, and surviving on one wage - can I still access your services

Yes - Please discuss your personal situation with us as we always try to help you as best we can.

Can I have emotional support in my session (like my dog, favourite teddy or fidget toy)?

Yes - Absolutely yes you can!

CAMHS only offer CBT, but my child will not engage?

This is a common occurrence as the young person does not feel comfortable. We endeavour to help your child feel comfortable so that they can explore their difficulties in a way they wish to.

Can I choose my pronouns in my report?

Yes - Of course you can.

Can I be seen in therapy as well as my Partner?

Yes - This is possible, however not on the same day.

Why do you want to include information about the extended family?

Some Parents want this information taken out believing it to be embarrassing, shaming or judging them. But it weakens the validity of what we have unpicked. Unless a young person was adopted, it is highly likely that one or both parents are neurodiverse themselves.

Why do the reports quote me specifically?

Far too often professionals write reports from their professional perspective (which can be tainted by their life experiences, but one would hope not). It is not always clear what the parents or the young person has conveyed.

Is there a limit on how many paper copies I can have of my report?

We allow up to 3 to be included in the cost

Do I have to sit through the full duration of the interview as I hate sitting for a long time?

No - You are welcome to move around as this may improve your processing and make you feel more comfortable.

Do my Parents have to know what we've spoken about in our session?

No - Unless you have disclosed self-harming or suicidal risk, in which case we will discuss how we inform your parents and will then follow through with what we discussed.
